"For me beauty is about the quality of attention.”

From an early age, drawing and coloring were an essential part of my life. Given paper and a handful of colored pencils, I could disappear into making for hours. That ability to fully lose myself in the creative process still defines the way I work today. Choosing a creative education therefore felt entirely natural — a decision I never doubted.
After graduating from the Design Academy Eindhoven, I worked for more than 20 years as an independent pattern and print designer, primarily for textiles. My motifs appeared through printing, screen printing, and woven structures. I have always preferred working by hand, using paint, pen, or pencil on paper. When digital production gradually replaced this tactile process and most work shifted to the computer, the joy of making diminished. I realized I needed calm, space, and autonomy to create.
I am grateful that I now have the freedom to fully focus on developing my own work.
In both my ceramic work and my drawings, rhythm, repetition, and refined detail play a central role. My distinctive patterns emerge from carefully placed dots, applied one by one. Through this attentive process, layered surfaces take shape, gradually revealing themselves and inviting the viewer to come closer.
For me, beauty is not only about form, but also about the quality of attention. The care and focus invested in the making process become part of the work itself.
I hope my work invites a sense of stillness, slowing down and softening the environment around it.
